Biafra, was the breakaway state within Nigeria which existed from 1967 to 1970. The Biafrans sought independence because of cultural, economic, religious and ethnic discrimination by the Nigerians. Biafra’s main supporters were the Vatican, Israel and many Religious organizations (Caritas, Catholic Relief Services and JCA). This Biafran One Pound note was issued at the same time as its Nigerian counterpart note. Offered as a set of two.
