Battle of Meeanee, Engraved Black & White Version of Painting by Edward Armitage (in the Cheshire Military Museum), Attractively Framed in Black & Gold Molding

The Moslem Sindi Region was an independent country in the Western coastal area of India, below what was then Afghanistan, but today is Pakistan. At the onset of the 2nd Afghan Wars, the British wanted to march thru Sindi territory and forced the local leaders to accept a British treaty. In 1842 Sir Charles Napier arrived and pressed for more concessions, which the locals resented, all of which lead to war, followed by the decisive battle of Meeanee. Featured is an engraving of the Battle of Meeanee, a black & white version of a detail from the famous painting by Edward Armitage (in the Cheshire Military Museum), attractively framed in black & gold molding, with off white mat.

Ready to hang. Measures approximately 15 x 12 3/4 inches
