BLACK BART the LAST STICK-UP & CAPTURE by WELLS FARGO 1883 PRINTED CHECK STUB

As Wells Fargo transported much of the California gold, it was a natural for hold-ups. Black Bart (Charlie Boles) was considered one of the most famous & polite thieves of the era (having never shot a soul & never robbed passengers). He was caught in 1883, the same year that this ‘to WELLS FARGO, NEW YORK CITY’ check stub was printed by Parsons Paper Company of Holyoke, Massachusetts.
