DAI-TOKIN KOYASAN TEMPLE MONEY LOAN OFFICE ORIGINALLY VALUED at 1 SILVER MOMME, LATE EDO PERIOD, EXCHANGEABLE for RICE in OSAKA.

Han-Satsu were monies (like a check) traditionally used by clans, temples, loan offices and other institutions and were often exchangeable for some product, such as rice. During the early Meiji Period (1872) these Han-Satsu were called in by Finance Ministry and revalued (red stamp) as small-change-notes, Oin-Satsu.
