These coins were issued approximately 75 – 100years after the Dutch relinquished to the English what is now called New York City (discovered by VOC Captain Henry Hudson – September 11, 1609) and represent a vestige of this once most important private company, which had, at the height of its power, many warships, hundreds of trading vessels and thousands of employees, not to mention, an impressive army. These 4 different coins dated from about 1750 to the decline of the company in 1794 represent the following Dutch locations; Holland, West Friesland, Utrecht & Zeeland.
