Napoleon Medal – Battle of the Pyramids ( present day Egypt ) fought just outside of Cairo between Napoleon’s army and the Mamaluk cavalry, their main fighting force. As an encouragement to fight on, Napoleon extolled his troops with the thought that the Pyramids along with several thousand years of history was shining on them. Reverse depicts the battle scene map and date 21 July 1798.
