Paraguay’s War with Argentina, Brazil & Uruguay (the Triple Alliance) began several years after this 1859 skirmish. The British under the command of Consul Sir Edward Thornton attacked the War Ship (Tacuari) of Presidente Francisco Lopez Solano.
